Dungeon XP, class tuning, and the Dalaran access bug
TL;DR: The October 8 beta note says dungeon kills give about 20% more experience and that party XP follows each player’s own level. The same note retunes Hunter, Druid, and other classes. A Comeback Kids video adds that full Horde access to the city of Dalaran was called unintended. None of this is a Crit Forever Happens measurement.

Dungeon kill XP
Kaivax’s October 8, 2026 development note says that day’s beta build did two things together. Experience from killing creatures in dungeons went up by about 20%. A bug that cut XP for players grouped with someone higher level, while killing lower-level enemies, was fixed. The note says the old rule used the highest-level party member. The restored rule uses each player’s own level, which the note calls the Classic Era behavior. If someone in the party is vastly higher than the enemy, nobody gets XP. That exception is described as intentional.

The Comeback Kids video, hosted as Sky in the closing line, walks through the same two changes and then through player reports the host had seen. Those reports are the video’s account. CFH did not repeat the runs.
- A level 20 Wailing Caverns group, levels 21 to 22, was said to see 34 XP from a level 19 elite. The host’s arithmetic put a level-up near 23,000 XP, on the order of 683 such kills.
- A Shadowfang Keep check against a level 21 elite was said to show 42 XP.
- A full Ragefire Chasm clear of 110 kills, with rested experience and a 5% well-fed buff, was said to move the player about 31% of a level.
- The host’s own Deadmines run at level 20, with rested experience, was said to move the bar from about 35% to about 78% in roughly 30 minutes with an average group. Removing rested, the host put the run near 21% of a level, and estimated about two and a half hours per level if someone only repeated Deadmines.
The host also says Aggrend described highly efficient dungeon leveling as close to, or possibly equal to, optimal questing, and that the host does not read the Deadmines result as a disaster. The October 8 note CFH retrieved does not contain that “close to questing” sentence. Treat it as the video’s report of Aggrend, not as text from the forum post.

Class tuning, with Hunters called out
The video reads a class pass that matches Kaivax’s October 8 note. The note is the source for the lines below. The video’s spoken percentages for Lesser Heal, Heal, and Arcane Missiles were not in that note, so they are left off this page.
Hunter
- Expose Prey lasts 10 seconds, changed from 5.
- Disengage’s threat reduction was supposed to be doubled and is now implemented.
- Unleashed Fury now increases pet damage, which the note says it had failed to do.
- Entrapment has diminishing returns, and it triggers on Frost Trap’s initial activation rather than on a repeating pulse.
- Improved Concussive Shot and Improved Wing Clip use the chance the note calls correct. Improved Wing Clip is less likely to activate from ranks far below the hunter’s level.
- A bug that let pets gain health over and over while low on health is marked fixed.
Other classes in the same note
- Druid: Bear Form and Dire Bear Form threat bonus moves from 30% to 50%. Critical strikes grant 100% increased Rage, from 75%. Cat Form no longer reduces maximum health. Demoralizing Roar puts threat on each affected target. Thorns base damage is returned to the note’s “Vanilla WoW values,” and its spell power ratio is listed as 6%, from 13.3%. Wolfshead Helm grants 5 extra Energy when shifting power is used. The Rage part of the helm is unchanged.
- Warrior: Demoralizing Shout puts threat on affected targets. Last Stand grants the health it was missing. Deep Wounds is required again to reach Impale, and an off-hand attack-power scaling bug on Deep Wounds is marked fixed. The note says Deep Wounds does not scale with attack power.
- Paladin: Retribution Aura uses the Paladin’s spell power, not the target’s. Its base damage returns to the note’s Vanilla values, described there as about a 33% reduction, and its spell power ratio is listed as 6%, from 13.3%. Reckoning can trigger at most once every 1.5 seconds.
- Priest: Penance damage and healing were reduced because it was treated as a 3-second channel instead of a 2-second channel. Rank 1 mana cost rose by 50%. Healing on Penance ranks 2 and 4 was increased. Smite, Lesser Heal, and Heal had early ranks adjusted so a new rank is an upgrade. The note does not give the approximate heal percentages the video spoke.
- Shaman: Fire Nova no longer spends Elemental Focus the moment it is used. Lightning Bolt ranks 1 through 5 were adjusted so ranks 1 through 6 grow consistently.
- Mage: Fireball and Frostbolt ranks 1 through 5, and Arcane Missiles ranks 1 through 3, were adjusted the same way. Flamestrike’s damage over time no longer triggers Impact.
- Warlock: the current demon is stunned while a replacement is summoned. Shadow Bolt ranks 1 through 4 were adjusted for consistent rank growth. Demonic Brand’s high threat on pet attacks requires Shadow damage.
Those ratios are the development note’s words. They are not entered as Crit Forever Happens coefficients. Blank coefficients on this site stay blank.

The Dalaran access bug
The October 8 note says the City of Dalaran dungeon is available for testing. It does not say Horde characters may use the city afterward.
The Comeback Kids video says players found that finishing the dungeon and a short follow-up let Horde characters into the city, and that people treated that as the intended unlock. The host says Aggrend replied that full Horde access to Dalaran is not intended and that the team would likely adjust it. The host also says Horde Kirin Tor reputation was called unintentional, already fixed internally, and expected on the beta the following week. The host separates that from running the dungeon: both factions can enter the dungeon, and city access afterward was described as Alliance.
CFH did not retrieve Aggrend’s original posts. The sentences above are the video’s account, from auto-generated captions retrieved on 2026-10-11. Captions render the city name unclearly; the page uses Dalaran because that is the dungeon named in Kaivax’s note.

What this page does not verify
- Aggrend’s posts about Horde city access and Kirin Tor reputation. Only the video was retrieved.
- The video’s approximate heal and Arcane Missiles percentages. They are not in the October 8 note.
- Whether the host’s dungeon XP samples match the build you are playing. They are not CFH logs.
- The video also talks about PAX pitch slides, dwarf helmet fit, and a missing one-hand-on-back transmog option. Those are outside this page.
