Hunter deep dive: what Blizzard published

TL;DR: Blizzard’s Hunter and Druid deep dive says Aimed Shot is baseline at 20, traps work in combat on a 30-second cooldown, and pets take stats from Hunter gear. The page did not show a publication date. None of this is a Crit Forever Happens measurement, and none of it is stored as a coefficient.

This is our short reading of the Hunter half. The talent rows stay on Blizzard’s page. They are not copied here, and they are not entered as Crit Forever Happens coefficients. Blizzard says abilities and talents may keep changing during the beta.

Three specializations

The article names Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, and Survival. It describes them as pet-focused play, ranged attacks, and trap or melee options. Talents start at level 10. The one-point milestones at 11, 21, and 31 points remain, and a new milestone is added at 16 points. Dual Specialization becomes available at level 40. Changing talents, including the talents the article calls Legacy, is done at a class trainer in a major city.

Aimed Shot

Aimed Shot is granted to every Hunter at level 20. The article says Arcane Shot no longer shares a cooldown with Aimed Shot, and that Multi-Shot does share a cooldown with Aimed Shot. Those are design sentences from the page. CFH has not timed them. This site does not invent an Arcane Shot number for build 1.60.1.70205, and it does not store one.

The same baseline list says Disengage’s threat reduction is doubled. Kaivax’s October 8 note is the dated source for that line. It is written up on the class-tuning page.

Aspect of the Beast also grants melee attack power, in the article’s wording. That bonus is not a stored coefficient.

Traps and Scorpid Sting

Traps can be used in combat. The cooldown is raised to 30 seconds, and frost traps and fire traps have separate cooldowns. The article still says a trap is placed at the Hunter’s own location. Scorpid Sting reduces the target’s chance to hit by 2% instead of reducing Strength and Agility. That 2% is the article’s announced effect. It is not stored here as a coefficient.

Pet stats from Hunter gear

Pets gain stats from the Hunter’s gear, and they no longer receive player buffs that raise their stats. Every family can learn Bite or Claw, sometimes both, and Dive or Dash. The article says each family has one ability that belongs only to that family. The family list stays on Blizzard’s page.

Fox pets

Foxes are a new pet family. Their family ability is Trickster’s Dance, which raises the pet’s dodge chance and attack speed for 12 seconds.

Where Ferocity is listed

The deep dive places Ferocity under Beast Mastery. Kaivax’s October 8 known issue does not name a tree when it says the character sheet will not show a Ferocity pet’s critical strike chance rising. The homepage row is tagged Beast Mastery because of this article. The bug itself is cited from the October 8 note on the class-tuning page.

Role and the dead zone

The article says Hunters have one combat role, damage, and that the pet can tank in solo play and in a small group. Ranged abilities become unavailable within 8 yards, which the article calls the dead zone. Hunters cannot stun or interrupt. CFH has not measured the 8-yard line. The levels 1–9 page points here for that sentence.

Druid stays on Blizzard’s page

The same article continues with Druid notes. Those rows are not summarized here. The current CFH phase is Hunter leveling.

What this page does not verify

  • A publication date. The retrieved page did not show one, so the source date stays blank.
  • Any talent percentage, new shot, or hawk summon. Those stay on Blizzard’s page and are not coefficients.
  • An Arcane Shot number for build 1.60.1.70205. None is stored.
  • That the 8-yard dead zone, the 30-second trap cooldown, or the 2% Scorpid Sting effect match a CFH log. They do not. CFH has not measured them.
